Regulator pleased about commitment from mobile broadband providers
The UK’s communications regulator, Ofcom, is said to be pleased about the commitment that has come from mobile broadband providers with regards to a new code of practice.
According to a recent report the UK’s communications regulator, Ofcom, has welcomed the cooperation of the major mobile broadband providers in signing up to a new code of practice to make things fairer and easier for mobile broadband customers. The commitment from the mobile broadband providers has pleased the communications regulator, and should help the increasing number of people that are signing up to mobile broadband services.
A number of major mobile broadband operators have signed up to the new code of practice according to reports, and this includes providers such as Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange, and O2. With an increasing number of people signing up for mobile broadband services, and with this trend expected to continue over the course of this year, more transparency and increased information for consumers has been deemed important by regulatory bodies.
As part of the new code of conduct the mobile broadband giants have pledged a number of things. They will be making a range of information far more transparent and clear for customers, and this includes information relating to connection speeds, broadband coverage, and subscription fees. They will also be providing the information in easily understandable language rather than using technical jargon.
An official from Ofcom stated: “Ofcom welcomes the mobile operators’ commitment to give their customers better information about mobile broadband services.” He also said that further investigation into mobile broadband services would be conducted so that they regulator could make sure that customers’ needs continued to be met in this sector.
