Mobile broadband users could reach billions within five years
At the recent Broadband World Forum an industry official has said that the numbers of people using mobile broadband could reach billions in the space of just five years.
The recent Broadband World Forum in Paris has seen many industry groups and professionals release figures and predictions with regards to the future of broadband, including mobile broadband. According to one expert who spoke at the event the future looks bright for mobile broadband, as take up of this service could reach billions within the next five years.
Mobile broadband has become extremely popular in the UK in a fairly short space of time, as well as in other parts of Europe and across the world. Many people are opting for mobile broadband services because they are able to get online easily, quickly, and conveniently whilst they are away from home or office, giving them the ultimate in freedom when it comes to accessing the Internet.
Speaking the Broadband World Forum on industry expert said that there could be around three billion users of mobile broadband services by 2014, showing huge growth within the space of just five years. He said: “It’s a fantastic growth we can see in front of us.” He did add that the figure may, however, include those with more than one SIM.
Another industry expert has recently stated that at present the number of homes that rely solely on mobile broadband equates to just ten percent, and that at present the majority of people that use mobile broadband take out the service to complement their home broadband service rather than as a replacement for their home fixed line broadband service.
