Mobile broadband speed slower in Manchester
A recent survey has suggested that mobile broadband speeds in Manchester are slower than in other cities across the UK, which affects businesses, locals, and visitors to the city.

Mobile broadband has become a hugely popular technology these days, with many people enjoying the freedom, flexibility, and ease that this technology offers. Those that benefit from using mobile broadband services are always keen to enjoy the best speeds possible, as this can have a huge impact on the quality of service that they get from their mobile broadband.
Of course, the mobile broadband speeds that you get in different cities and parts of the UK can vary, and some areas enjoy fast mobile broadband speeds whereas others are left lagging behind. According to one recent report one of the places that has been left lagging behind other major cities when it comes to 3G mobile broadband speeds is Manchester.
Reports claim that businesses, locals, and visitors to Manchester have to put up with an average mobile broadband speed of 2.47Mbps. The average speed in the fastest city in the UK, which is Peterborough, is 3.86Mbps, which is around fifty six percent faster than the speeds in Manchester.
One industry official involved in the research said: “There’s clearly quite a disparity when it comes to 3G connectivity across the UK. Despite efforts by the Government and mobile operators to increase the coverage and speed of 3G services, there is evidently still a long way to go. Across large swathes of the UK, and worryingly in some of the country’s largest towns and cities, 3G mobile broadband speeds simply aren’t up to scratch. Ofcom recently unveiled its plans for 4G, the next generation mobile communications technology, with the telecoms regulator announcing that an auction would take place for the right to provide high-speed services to consumers and businesses. Judging by the results of our mobile broadband tests carried out by smartphone users, the networks should probably be trying to ensure their 3G house is in order before they start promoting 4G services.”
