An industry expert has recently said that mobile broadband services are going to play an increasingly important part when it comes to providing consumers in rural areas to make purchases online for delivery.

Over recent years mobile broadband services have become increasingly popular and common amongst people from all walks of life, from casual users of broadband and internet who simply want to browse and surf the web whilst they are out and about to business users who need to access the internet whilst on the move in order to keep their business going.

One industry expert has recently highlighted how mobile broadband technology plays a vital role in providing rural areas, consumers and businesses, with the opportunity to make purchases online for delivery. This came from telecoms analyst for Ovum Consulting Matthew Howett who was speaking after government plans were announced to spend five hundred and thirty million pounds on rolling out high speed broadband to rural areas.

For many rural areas getting adequate fixed line broadband services is extremely difficult, which can make things very difficult for people living and working in those areas. This is why mobile broadband could provide a vital solutions for these areas, especially with Ofcom set to sell off more frequencies when analogue TV signals are no longer needed, which will then increase mobile connection options.

Howett explained: “The benefit of those frequencies is that they travel far distances with relatively few base stations. It becomes a very attractive way of rolling out a network.”
