Mobile broadband demographics changed
According to a recent report the demographics of mobile broadband users have changed from being mainly business users to there being no particular demographic, as mobile broadband popularity continues to surge.
It has been revealed that when mobile broadband first began to hit the mainstream market the main user demographic was business users that wanted to benefit from the flexibility and convenience of being able to access the Internet whilst out and about on business. For business users mobile broadband provided the ultimate in freedom and ease, making it easier to conduct their business even when away from the home or office base.
Whilst mobile broadband was largely popular amongst business users when it first came out, a recent report has suggested that the demographic of mobile broadband users has changed recently as a result of soaring popularity of mobile broadband, which has resulted in it becoming more mainstream. This has resulted in the demographic of users going from mainly business users to no particular demographic at all, because the take up of this technology has become so widespread.
In addition to this new data the results of a recent survey were also released. The survey results involved polling people that had bought mobile broadband dongles, and nearly half of those that were polled stated that they had never before had a broadband connection until they signed up to their mobile broadband package.
The data also showed that there had been a significant increase in the take up of mobile broadband, with USB modems thought to be selling around eighteen thousand per week in March. Over the course of January around 58,000 dongles were sold, which was more than double the 27,000 sold in October of last year, reflecting the rise in popularity of mobile broadband in the UK.
