Mobile broadband could lead to increased sale of older mobile phones

It has been claimed by one industry official recently that the rising popularity of mobile broadband and handheld internet devices could lead to a surge in the sale of older mobile phones.

There is no doubt that over the past couple of years mobile broadband services have become increasingly popular, with many people that want the freedom and flexibility of being able to get online whilst out and about opting for these services. Both casual and business users have become reliant on mobile broadband services and once 4G broadband networks come along this technology is likely to prove even more popular.

It has been claimed by one industry official that the rising popularity of mobile broadband services coupled with the eagerness of consumers to get their hands on high tech handheld internet devices will result in a surge in the number of older mobile phones that are either offered up for sale or given in to be recycled. Smart phones are said to be driving the increase behind people ditching their older mobiles in favour of a feature rich smart phone, and the rising popularity of the up and coming tablets will help.

In the past most people had their mobile phones simply to make calls and send or receive text messages. However, these days people are using their mobiles for all sorts of purposes, from surfing the web to using social networking sites, shopping, watching the latest news, taking photos and videos, and more. As more and more sophisticated phones come out a rising number of people are likely to ditch the old ones and sign up for a new one, particularly those that want to make use of mobile broadband.

Are you thinking of ditching your older mobile phone for a smart phone? Let us know with your comments.
