Mobile broadband advertising still not seeing much success
With a rising number of people signing up to mobile broadband services it is little wonder that many industries saw this as the next step to high level advertising. However, this strategy is not proving as successful as many may have hoped.
For many companies and industries in the UK and across the world advertising is a big part of their success, and they have used many different methods of advertising to raise awareness about their services. In the past popular advertising platforms included radio, television, and print media, but over recent years online advertising has become hugely popular with industries cashing in on the rising popularity of the Internet by using it as a cost effective way of getting their message out there.
It was therefore no surprise that many companies and industries decided to use the increasing popularity of mobile broadband to further widen their advertising opportunities, and with more and more people opting for mobile broadband many companies decided to use this to advertise their services. However, according to one recent report mobile advertising has not proven as effective as many hoped it would.
One industry official recently stated that mobile campaigns have failed to bring in the revenue that many had hoped they would. Speaking at a Westminster eForum Nick Suckley stated: “We have seen an explosion in mobile web usage. If you look at any stats it’s really exploded – and yet we haven’t seen a corresponding explosion in ad revenues.”
Suckley was speaking at the seminar More than Talk… The Future of Mobile , which was held late last week. He said that although there had been significant growth in the number of people using mobile broadband the level of revenue being generated by mobile advertising campaigns was extremely disappointing.
