Recent independent performed testing by one of the major network testing companies has once again found that mobile broadband provider T-Mobile to offer the fastest download speeds over mobile broadband in the UK.

For the second quarter in a row mobile telecoms provider T-Mobile has hit the top of the table in and independent mobile broadband performance test carried out by P3 Solutions.

16 Major cities in the UK were used in the test and mobile broadband providers were compared by measuring speeds experienced by customers during peak hour. Amongst the various tests that were carried out were the viewing of a 90-second 512kbps streaming video, the use of IMAP and SMTP based e-mail services, a 90-second YouTube clip and visiting a range of the most popularly view websites including Google, Ebay, BBC and Bebo.

Out of the many tests carried out T-Mobile was found to be fastest for sending and receiving e-mails with attachments, was found to be 59 percent faster than its nearest rival on upload speeds and came out top in the web-browsing experience with average speeds 35 percent quicker than its nearest competitor. The telco was, however, beaten to the number one spot for the fastest download speed, although it did come second with an average download speed of 1Mbps, with a download speed of just under 1.5Mbps taking the top place.

The chief technology officer for T-Mobile UK, Emin Gurdenli said “To be ranked No1 for two consecutive quarters since testing began in April last year is a significant achievement. Our consistently high performance is testament to the fact that we continually test and improve our network to make sure our customers are getting the best possible mobile broadband experience. As the number of customers opting for the flexibility and convenience of mobile broadband continues to rise quarter on quarter, we will continue to expand on the potential of mobile broadband, through improved performance and our innovative range of tariffs and laptop bundles.”
