According to two industry groups mobile broadband in the UK has enjoyed impressive growth and the popularity of this technology is set to continue.

Over the past year mobile broadband technology has been enjoying increasing popularity, with a range of providers in the mobile communications sector offering an array of low cost deals to consumers. Many consumers have opted for mobile broadband because it is far less restrictive than fixed line broadband, and allows them to access the Internet whilst on the go, enabling them to enjoy flexibility, convenience, and ease.

It seems that mobile broadband in the UK has really taken off, with this technology enjoying enormous success, and according to two industry groups the success of mobile broadband in the UK is set to continue. Research was recently carried out by research firm EITO and trade body GSMA, and officials from the two firms have said that the finding show that mobile broadband is continuing to expand in the UK, with increasingly advanced technology adding to its popularity.

The results indicate that during 2009 the mobile broadband industry in the UK will enjoy growth of nearly ten percent, and the value of the industry will grow to over six billion pounds. The popularity of this technology is further aided by the stiff competition that has arisen from the number of providers offering deals, which has driven down prices and made mobile more affordable for the masses.

One industry official said: “Thanks to new applications and attractive devices, mobile telecommunications remains a growth market in spite of the economic crisis.” He also said that bundle deals available from mobile broadband providers had helped to increase the growth of this industry.
