Emphasis on free gifts and incentives for many mobile broadband customers
A recent study has suggested that many consumers in the UK that are looking to take out a mobile broadband service are more concerned about getting freebies and incentives than with the cost of the service or the speeds that they will get.
These days it would be natural to think that customers that are looking to take out services such as mobile broadband would put the emphasis on areas such as the cost of the service and the speeds that were available when it came to priorities. However, a recent report compiled from a survey has suggested that this may not be the case and that many consumers may have their eye on things such as freebies rather than cost and speed.
The poll was carried out by a broadband industry group, and the results suggested that many mobile broadband customers were more interested in added extras such as freebies and incentives that were offered with the various mobile broadband packages rather than with more important areas such as the average speeds that they could get or the amount that they would pay for the service.
Those that were polled as part of the survey were asked a number of questions, and one of these asked them what their most important consideration would be when looking at taking out mobile broadband services. A surprising thirty percent of respondents in the survey said that added extras would be the main thing that affected their decision with regards to mobile broadband packages.
Amongst the freebies that have proven popular with consumers are the free laptops that come with many mobile broadband deals. One official stated: “There has been resistance to continuing laptop deals from some mobile broadband suppliers, but the demand for them is still high. We have also seen Orange adding value with a high performance antenna and microSD card, while 3 has a MiFi deal which includes a bundled iPod Touch on a two-year contract for an extra £6 per week. More and more, deals are beginning to mirror those in the mobile phone arena. As for speed, it seems like the one thing the mobile broadband internet suppliers can’t provide.”
