Continued success for mobile broadband sector
Recent figures have shown that across Europe the market for mobile broadband devices has been growing, reflecting the increasing popularity that this market is enjoying.
Over recent months the mobile broadband market in the UK and across Europe has been enjoying great success, and many people that want to enjoy increased flexibility, freedom, and convenience when it comes to where and when they can access the Internet have been flocking to join the mobile broadband revolution.
The increasing popularity of mobile broadband across Europe has been reflected in recent figures that have been released, which have given an indication of the level of growth that the sector has enjoyed. The figures have shown that in 2008 the mobile broadband device market increased to around ten and a half million sales.
It is thought that amongst the reasons for the increased sale of mobile broadband devices is the increased affordability and greater availability. This includes prices of and access to devices such as USB modems and mini laptops, all of which have helped to increase sales to well over ten million from fewer than four and a half million the previous year.
The research also showed that around two thirds of mobile data modem users across Europe were in the UK and Germany. However, despite the encouraging figures the report also added that growth of the mobile broadband device market for this year could be hampered as a result of the ongoing recession and the global financial crisis. One official said: “Growth in 2009 is expected to be tempered due to the economic uncertainty.”
Separate research that was recently released has suggested that mobile broadband take up on the Continent over the next few years could be increased as a result of rising netbook sales.
