PSSSSSTTT!!! You want to buy a new iPad 2 real cheap? I personally would be on the lookout for something strange.
A criminal played on someone’s greed and got the better of them. They were offered an iPad 2 for £200 ($316 US), about one half the retail cost.
Now if someone is selling a brand-new iPad at half the cost, you know it is stolen, so you would not want to be seen making an exchange openly in public, particularly when the police have cameras on nearly street corner. The hapless victim was excited and went to the cash machine on Commercial Street in Yorkshire and withdrew £200.
The money was clandestinely swapped for a laptop bag that contained the purloined iPad. They parted ways and when the proud owner of the iPad opened the laptop bag he received a big surprise: some potatoes!
The police issued a statement “It should be common sense to check that you are getting what you pay for but, as a similar incident to this one in Birstall took place in the summer, we are warning people to be wary of accepting deals that seem to be too good to be true.”
The Yorkshire Evening Post described the con man as “a chubby white man in his forties who had dark blonde hair and an Irish accent.” Believe in leprechauns, do ye?
Just do not trust one when he offers you a pot o’ gold or something just as desirable: an inexpensive iPad.
