Wales is now said to be at the cutting edge of high speed broadband development with communications giant BT rolling out super-fast broadband across the area.

Over recent months communications giant BT has been working on its plans to roll out super-fast broadband to different parts of the UK, and it has now announced that Wales is at the cutting edge of this high speed broadband rollout, with facilities already having been successfully installed in Cardiff. A number of other exchanges have now been revealed for installation of high speed broadband, and these are in Bridgend, Chepstow, Hengoed, Llantrisant, Newtown Llantwit, Connah’s Quay and Hawarden.

The upgraded fibre based network that is being put into place by BT means that the area will be able to benefit from high speed broadband, which will prove beneficial to both businesses and consumers in the area. Officials from BT have said that many benefits will be enjoyed from the rollout of high speed broadband in the area, and that many people will benefit.

For consumers and residents in Wales the rollout of the high speed broadband service will prove beneficial for people such as those that enjoy gaming online and those that like to keep in touch with friends and loved ones through social networking sites, as the faster speeds will make using services and facilities such as these far more effective.

The benefits that will be seen for businesses will prove to be even greater, as the service will provide improved business broadband connectivity, and will allow businesses to utilise applications and technology that they may otherwise be unable to use. An official from BT said: “One of the great things about the technology is that it gives very fast up-speeds as well as down-speeds. If you are gaming, for example, you can have an enhanced experience with people all over the world.”
