UK holidaymakers could benefit from WiFi access at holiday sites

It has been revealed that thanks to the communications giant BT the rising number of holidaymakers deciding to stay in Britain for their holidays could benefit from access to WiFi.

With the recession still in full swing and many households in the UK deciding to stay in Britain for their holidays rather than jetting off abroad, a rising number of holiday camps throughout the nation have been enjoying a busier period. It seems now that BT broadband is taking advantage of this situation, as it has announced that it will be providing many of these holiday camps with WiFi facilities through BT Openzone.

A wide range of sites will be provided with WiFi facilities as part of the deal, enabling holidaymakers to get online to enjoy surfing, playing, and entertainment. This includes caravanning and camping sites, several Pontins and Coastfields Leisure sites, and various other well known UK holiday and leisure parks.

The wireless access is due to go live on the coming bank holiday, when many Brits will be holidaying at such leisure parks. An official from BT Openzone said that holidaymakers would be able to benefit in many ways from this access, stating: “Having the option to get online and stay entertained will provide a useful ‘plan B’ if the weather does its worst, and being able to look up tourist information and hunt out local gems will make for a better trip.”

A holiday and leisure park official added: “Lots of Brits have stayed in the UK rather than head overseas this year. Families tell us that holiday sites are another location where they want to get online. Teenagers and gadget addicts are set to be heavy users.”
