As part of its rollout of high speed fibre optic broadband across the UK the communications giant BT has announced that two parts of Edinburgh are going to be enjoying the benefits of this technology.

With issues over broadband speeds in the UK continuing to cause concern and controversy, the communications and broadband giant BT is continuing with its roll out of higher speed broadband services and its investment into broadband rollout across the country. Already, a number of areas in the UK have been given the chance to enjoy higher speed broadband based on advanced fibre based technology, and as BT continues with its project the number of areas that will have access to this technology will continue to grow.

BT has recently announced that two areas of Edinburgh in Scotland are set to benefit from its high speed fibre optic broadband service, as it continues to provide access to higher speed services in various parts of the UK. The exchanges in Corstophine and Craiglockhart are to be amongst the latest to be upgraded as part of BTs plans, and this will enable those living and working in the areas to enjoy the many benefits of high speed broadband.

It is thought that around ten and a half thousand homes and businesses are served by the exchanges that are being upgraded, and these thousands of homes and businesses will be able to benefit hugely from the higher speeds that the broadband service will bring to the area.

A senior official from BT said that the upgrades were proving to be an ‘exciting development’ adding: “The advent of BT fibre-based broadband in parts of Corstorphine and Craiglockhart will support local jobs and the local economy and is a vital part of BT’s broadband plans for Scotland.”
