Online safety tips for children courtesy of BT
Whilst the Internet can be an invaluable tool for children it can also be a dangerous environment. However, communications giant BT is now offering safety tips to make the web safer for kids.

There are many households in Britain that have broadband access, and often this is because there are kids in the house that need to access the internet for educational resources and benefits. The internet can be invaluable for kids as it means that they can enjoy fun and entertainment with facilities such as social networking and games, and can also use the Internet for its educational and research benefits.
However, in some cases the web can be a dangerous place for children, and this is something that communications giant BT is hoping to tackle through the provision of online safety tips designed to make the web a safer place for kids. The company is set to launch a range of parental advice for moms and dads that want their kids to be safe online.
The move has been welcomed by children’s charities, and Jon Brown, head of strategy and development at the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children stated: “We welcome BT’s investment in providing advice and simplifying the way in which parents can control how their children use the internet.”
The guidance will be made available from March of this year and is known as Family Protection. It will be launched alongside a campaign to encourage broadband customers to take advantage of its free parental control software, which can help to keep kids safe whilst online.
