Online gamers could benefit from new BT deal

Communications and broadband giant BT has recently announced a new partnership that could see many of its broadband subscribers benefitting if they enjoy online gaming.

These days many broadband users enjoy online gaming, and this is a form of entertainment that has become increasingly popular as broadband speeds have become faster and the cost of having broadband has become more affordable. Following a deal that has been made by communications and broadband giant BT subscribers to BT could start enjoy a great experience when it comes to web based gaming.

The partnership has been formed between BT and OnLive, which is a web based gaming business based in the United States. The new deal means that BT may soon be able to offer access to these web based video games to its subscribers, which means that broadband users will have access to a huge database of exciting games to suit a wide range of tastes.

As a result of the commercial partnership users will be able to purchase and play their chosen games, which will be streamed over the Internet. The project is set to launch in the United States this year, and according to reports BT will announce further details about the launch of the service in the UK later on in the year.

Speaking about the new partnership and the benefits that it would provide to BT broadband subscribers Gavin Patterson, chief executive officer at BT Retail, stated: “The partnership with OnLive complements our existing BT Vision service. It’s great for our customers – they’ll have access to a huge catalogue of games, available instantly on their TV or PC without expensive hardware.”
