One of the first recipients of a Huge broadband service upgrade is Hamilton
It was announced recently that BT will be using Hamilton as one of the areas for the upgrading of its network to a new next generation platform, which will provide the area with one of the most advance communication platforms in the world.
The development of ‘next generation broadband’ communication in the UK for businesses and homes that is considered to be a world-leader will see Hamilton at the leading edge of this new technology.
The enabling of the Hamilton area with BT’s pioneering 21st Century Network (21CN) platform was announced recently by the UK’s largest telecommunications company, which would see the area’s phone and broadband lines ready for ‘next generation broadband’ services.
As part of the multi-billion pound investment across the UK by BT in the most advanced platform for global communication in the world, which will allow the carrying of broadband, data, video-on-demand and voice service, the installation of new equipment by BT will allow over 13 700 lines in Hamilton to be upgraded.
Every communications service provider in the area will be able to use this new advanced network to provide its customers with increased flexibility and choice, will enable new services to be introduced faster and will provide a number of great new features.
The director of BT Scotland, Brendan Dick said “Hamilton is one of the first major communities in the UK to achieve this level of coverage. It is a key milestone for the town and fantastic to be part of this exciting, world-leading project. Most of the foundations are now in place for offering next generation broadband services, but of course it will take time for companies offering those services to introduce products taking full advantage of this major investment. We are working with these companies to move forward as quickly as possible.”
