North West will benefit from fibre optic broadband services
An official from the communications giant BT has recently spoken out about how access to fibre optic broadband will benefit the North West of the country.
The digital divide between areas that can get adequate broadband speeds and access and those that cannot has caused great concern mainly because of the huge benefits that the areas that are unable to get broadband are missing out on. It is widely recognised that access to high speed broadband can help both residents and businesses and can result in a huge number of benefits for individual areas.
Amongst the many benefits that are thought to stem from access to higher speed broadband are improvements to education, improvement to careers and jobs, improvements to health information access, savings for consumers and businesses, and improvements to local economies.
An official from the communications giant BT has recently spoken out about how the North West of the country will benefit from access to fibre optic broadband. Mike Blackburn, the north-west regional director of BT, said that fibre based broadband would provide a ‘huge contribution’ in helping both consumers and businesses in the area to prepare for the future and look forward to a brighter future. He went on to state that fibre based broadband would make a huge difference to the way that people in the region lived and the things that they were able to do.
He added that BT was committed to providing this access both to the region and on a wider scale, stating: “Broadband has already made a huge contribution to the prosperity of the north-west – transforming the way many of us live and work and increasing the competitiveness of the region’s businesses – and it will become even more important in the years ahead.”
