Market Deeping now has super-fast broadband

Jan 25 2012 / By Alex Ion

Super-fast broadband is being rolled out to the first businesses and residences in Market Deeping.  Over 6,000 connections will have double the previous speeds of their broadband connections.

BT’s Openreach program is making possible this broadband upgrade for the area.  This is part of BT’s plan to eventually have the broadband services made available to 66% of the businesses and residences in the UK and is expected to be completed in around two years or so.

BT engineers have completed upgrading copper feeds in the street to fibre optics cables.  New and upgraded street cabinets are part of the infrastructure upgrade.

The East Midlands Regional Partnership Director for BT, Paul Bimson, commented: “The arrival of super-fast broadband in these areas is a huge boost for local businesses and households. These are economically challenging times and super-fast broadband can transform their experience of the internet.”

Stamford has already received the upgrade to super-fast broadband.  The infrastructure change to fibre has been completed to make this possible.

Bourne will also be the recipient of super-fast broadband connections this year.  New street cabinets will be required to complete this upgrade for Bourne.

Rounding out the area in 2013 will be Rutland.  The Rutland City Council has already been approved this past September for a cash grant from the government.  They will use this money to try a pilot trial broadband project.
