It has been reported that residents that work and live in the Scottish town of Innerleithen will see their lives changed as a result of receiving super-fast broadband.

The Scottish town of Innerleithen recently won a competition run by the communications giant BT, which made it one of the first isolated and out of reach communities that would be connected to the BT super-fast fibre broadband service being rolled out by BT. The service is expected to be installed in the early past of next year, and will give users access to speeds of up to 40Mbps.

People living and working in the town of Innerleithen have now said that having access to this high speed broadband service will not only benefit them but will change their lives in many ways. Whilst Innerleithen will get the high speed access early next year there are people in surrounding areas that will have to wait far longer.

People in the town of Innerleithen will benefit in many ways, and this includes both business and casual users. They will be able to enjoy faster downloads, and the higher speeds mean that they will be able to enjoy activities such as streaming content and online gaming if they wish to.
One resident said: “It’s massively important just to keep up to date. Everyone is online these days. You’re sharing videos, you’re talking on Facebook and everyone’s bragging about their speeds. So it would be good for us to keep up and be a part of it.”

Are you one of the local residents that will benefit from this rollout? Let us know with your comments
