A senior official from communications and broadband giant BT has stated recently that the launch of fibre based broadband on a large scale will enable businesses in the UK to benefit in a number of ways.

A senior official from the broadband and communications giant BT has recently spoken out about the benefits that high speed fibre based broadband will offer businesses across the UK, adding that when higher speed fibre-optic broadband is made more widely available businesses will be able to introduce smarter ways of working and could benefit in a number of different ways.

The managing director of BT’s business division, Nigel Stagg, stated recently that once businesses have greater access to high speed fibre optic broadband technology they will be able to utilise other forms of technology that could make for smarter business operations. His comments came just after it was announced that the mobile broadband provider Orange will be hosting a debate on how higher speed broadband will affect life and work in the UK.

In addition to allowing businesses to take advantage of higher specification technologies such as video conferencing Stagg said that high speed broadband would also make it easier for firms to create more flexibility when it comes to their workers, as it would enable them to work remotely with ease and could help firms to increase productivity from their employees.

Mr Stagg stated: “Faster speeds will also have specific advantages for sectors that rely heavily on sharing data. Architects, for example, might use the increased capacity to discuss designs by video link between their offices.” He said that broadband advancements could help to generate more business for firms.
