The broadband and communications giant BT has now completed its broadband network upgrades in Durham, giving thousands of homes and businesses in the area access to higher speed broadband.

As most people are aware the broadband and communications giant BT is continuing with its project to upgrade exchanges all around the country so that it can provide fibre based services to areas where these services were limited or unavailable previously, and this means that businesses and residents in the areas where the upgrades are carried out can enjoy high speed broadband access at affordable prices.

According to a recent report BT has now completed its upgrades in the Durham area, and this means that thousands of homes and businesses in the area now have access to the higher speed broadband service that comes from this upgrade. It is thought that around fourteen and a half thousand businesses and residents in the area will be able to benefit from the higher speed broadband.

BT has already completed network upgrades in a number of other areas in the UK, and still has plenty of areas on the list where upgrades have yet to be carried out. Once upgrades are carried out in the various areas the businesses and residents there will be able to enjoy access to speeds of up to 40Mbps, which could increase further in due course.

BT has also confirmed that it will be carrying out network upgrades in Aycliffe and Chester-le-Street, and once this is done a further twenty two thousand homes and businesses will be able to get access to the higher speed broadband services.
