Communications giant BT has recently promised more ADSL2+, pledging broadband speeds of up to 20Mbps to around eighty percent of Britain by this extension of its service.

Faster broadband is something that many businesses and households are keen to enjoy. With the Internet being used for so many things these days, from shopping and socialising to research, business, gaming, and streaming content, speed is of the essence for many users. It has been reported that a move by the communications giant BT could help more people in Britain get access to faster broadband speeds.

It has been announced by BT Wholesale that it is extending the rollout of the ADSL2+ service over its copper based network. According to reports this should mean that around eighty percent of the country is able to get speeds of up to 20Mbps for their broadband service. More telephone exchanges will be upgraded to extend this service to more people and it should reach eighty percent of homes and businesses by the end of this year according to BT.

Cameron Rejali, Managing Director, Products, BT Wholesale, said that the company was committed to deliver faster broadband to customers and business users across the UK, which was reflected in the measures that it was taking. He said: “This announcement is further evidence of BT’s commitment to deliver next generation services across the UK.”

He added: “Running over BT’s 21st Century Network, WBC offers communications providers the ability to provide their broadband customers with greater control, choice and flexibility as well as higher speeds. It supports the growing demand for high-speed broadband access to a range of online services – including TV, gaming online and multiple voice over internet protocol (VoIP) services.”
