It has been announced by communications giant BT that it is offering a free upgrade to fibre optic broadband services for customers that take out a bundle that included broadband, phone line, and calls.

An announcement has been made by the broadband and communications giant BT, which has said that customers that take out a broadband bundle deal with the company, which would include broadband, phone line, and calls, will be entitled to a free upgrade to fibre broadband services.

The fibre optic broadband service from BT is called BT Infinity, and with this service consumers will be able to enjoy speeds of up to 40Mbps. The service also offers upload speeds of up to 10Mbps, and should be available to two thirds of the premises in the UK by 2015.

The customers that will be entitled to the free fibre broadband upgrades are Option 2 and Option 3 customers with BT. Option 1 users who are with BT can also opt to have the upgrade but this will be subject to a small additional charge. For many the subsidized or free access will prove invaluable to many broadband users because of the faster speeds that they will be able to benefit from.

BT customers that are on Option 1 will have to pay a twenty five pounds connection fee, and will get the service with up to 2Mbps upload speeds for £7.49 per month for the first three months. However, both the connection speed and the upgrade will be free for those that are on Option 2 and Option 3.
