BT to focus on quality broadband rather than freebies
Officials from BT have recently said that the provider intends to focus on quality broadband service rather than engage in price wars and freebies
Leading broadband provider and communications giant BT has recently stated that it does not intend to join in with many other broadband providers in terms of launching price wars and offering freebies such as laptops, but instead intends to focus on providing a quality, reliable broadband service to customers at a competitive price.
The provider said that it intends to focus on quality and reliability as its strategy to move forward, and since putting a focus on the provision of broadband services in 2002 has enjoyed great success in terms of its increasing customer base.
Over the past year or two a number of broadband providers, both mobile and fixed line, have tried to entice customers to join up by offering high tech gadgets and freebies such as laptops along with specific contracts for a set period of time. However, according to BT officials this is not the way in which it wants to attract its customers.
Since 2002 the communications giant has been signing up the equivalent of two thousand customers a day to its broadband service, which equates to one person signing up every forty seconds. Having acquired smaller ISPs such as Plusnet and Brightview, it has also overtaken giants such as Virgin Media to become the UK’s biggest provider.
BT has had to compete against some big names in the broadband and Internet services field over recent years, such as Virgin Media, Tiscali, BSkyB, and Carphone Warehouse. However, it believes its dedication to service and quality will enable it to keep competitors at bay and enjoy continued success.
An official from BT said: “Four million customers is a great achievement in such a short time. Broadband has proved to be one of the most popular new services ever seen.”
