BT Broadband announces 400,000 new hotspots nationwide
BT Broadband is one of the largest service providers in the UK. The firm has been busy deploying fibre since last year after announcing that they were going to be launching superfast broadband services that employed Fibre-to-the-Cabinet and Fibre-to-the-Premises technology.
BT has a long history of updating their infrastructure and establishing hotspots to provide better access and signals to their subscribers.
Now the firm has announced that there are hundreds of thousands of new hotspots all over the county for their rapidly expanding network. Over 205,000 have been established in Yorkshire and the Humber. Meanwhile, around 99,000 hotspots were added in the North East region, with a further 170,000 hotspots set up in Wales.

BT’s regional director for Yorkshire and the Humber commented: “This is fantastic news for the county and another example of major investment by BT in the country’s communications network. This huge growth in the number of hotspots takes flexible working from the home to wherever you need to be and brings the internet right to your fingertips.”
A BT spokesperson added: “For small businesses … Wi-Fi is a great low or no-cost way of working remotely, staying in touch with customers, suppliers and staff and accessing real time travel information quickly, from any wireless PC, tablet or smartphone.”
Sue Morris, who is from the Federation of Small Businesses of North Wales, also commented: “Public Wi-Fi provides crucial support for business across North Wales and particularly for smaller companies. The extra coverage announced today is a positive growth enabler for these firms and is something we very much welcome.”
