BT being pushed for improvements to broadband plans

Communications giant BT is being pushed for improvements to its plans for super-fast broadband by two of its potential customers.

Two of the potential customers for the wholesale products that communications giant BT is planning are now pushing the company to make improvement to its plans for super-fast broadband. Both BSkyB and Carphone Warehouse are pushing for BT to make improvements to its one and a half billion pound plans for a super-fast broadband network according to reports.

The network is set to offer speeds that are up to ten times faster than current speeds, which will be made possible because the network is based on a fibre optic structure. The plan is set to start operating in the New Year. Analysts have stated that if BT wants to make a return on its investment into the network it will need to start striking deals on a wholesale basis on its new network.

Carphone Warehouse and BSkyB have already been involved in trials with the communication giant’s super-fast network, but they have both said that following the trials they are looking for improvements to be made to the wholesale products that will be offered.

An official from Sky said: “We’ll continue to work closely with BT to provide input on how the trial products need to be modified. It’s important that future products are attractive to potential wholesale partners if BT is going to see a return on its investment.” Carphone Warehouse stated that changes were needed, stating: “The country needs something that is much more flexible because the technology is moving incredibly quickly.”
