BskyB and BT leaving rival providers behind
It has been claimed in a recent report that in the race to sign up the most broadband customers the two communications and media giants, BT and BSkyB, are well ahead of their rivals.

Competition is very tough for providers in the broadband and entertainment sector these days, and many providers are battling in order to get one over on their rivals by signing up as many customers as possible for their broadband services. This is done in a variety of ways including expansion of access, improvement of services, and a range of incentives and special offers.
It has been revealed that there are two household names in the broadband and entertainment sector that are leaving their rivals trailing behind in the race to sign up the most broadband customers. The two companies said to be streaming ahead of the rest are BSkyB and BT. The claim comes after major broadband suppliers provided data updates earlier this week.
In the last three months BT is said to have taken on over one hundred and forty thousand new broadband subscribers, taking its share of all new customers to sixty percent. Sky is thought to have taken on over one hundred and fifty thousand customers in the same period. However, one of their main rivals, Virgin, actually lost customers during that period.
One industry official said that it helped that BT and Sky already had customers in other areas that could be converted to take their broadband services. He said: “Obviously for Sky and BT, having an existing customer base, a captive audience, is a huge competitive advantage in terms of selling in other products.”
Have you taken out Sky or BT broadband in the past quarter?
