January 27th, 2008 by Richard

This year’s ISP award nominations have been announced, with providers hoping to walk away with an award on 14th March

The winners of the tenth annual ISP Awards are due to be announced in March 14th, and the nominations for these awards have now been revealed. A total of sixteen categories make up these awards, and the winner are to be announced at the Marriott Grosvenor Square, London, on 14th March.

Amongst the categories that form these awards are best consumer ISP, and a number of providers have been nominated for this award, including Orange, Virgin Media, Tiscali, and BT. This award was scooped by Virgin Media last year, but a lot can happen in the world of ISPs in one year, so Virgin cannot afford to get too confident about another win. Nominations for the best consumer broadband include Virgin Media, Waitrose, and Seriously Internet.

Best business broadband nominees included Datanet, Lumison, and PlusNet. Best business ISP nominations included Claranet, PlusNet, and Eclipse. Pipex. Newnet, and Vispa were amongst those nominated for the best consumer email, and the nominations for best business email included Eclipse, Newnet, and Zen.

There were some big name nominations for the best portal award, with nominees that included Orange, Tiscali, BT, and Virgin. Nominations for best dial up went to Vispa, Waitrose, Entanet, and several others. Other categories for these awards included best Internet telephony, best streaming, and best shared hosting.

The awards are run by the Internet Services Providers’ Association (ISPA), and testing and performance results are used in order to compile the finanlists for each category. The testing is performed by Epitiro.
