According to a recent report the worst broadband speeds in the UK can be found in Cranbrook, which is a small medieval town in Kent. A new survey has indicated that the broadband speeds in this area are the worst in the UK, running at around five times slower than the national average.

Figures show that the average speed of broadband in the area is just 1.32Mbps, which is fourteen times slower than the fastest town in the UK, which is Leamington Spa. Both Kent and Sussex have been highlighted as being amongst the worst areas in the UK when it comes to broadband speeds.

The figures were compiled from nearly four hundred thousand speed tests, which were carried out earlier this year. With these speeds it would take around twelve hours to download a movie and around forty five minutes to download one album.

An official that was involved in the research stated: “This is black and white evidence that thousands of homes are making do with download speeds well below the national average, and suggests that the British broadband is failing to deliver. Fast broadband speeds should be available to everyone, not just for those people living in heavily urbanised areas.”

Are you suffering due to slow broadband speeds in this town?

Funnily enough, I don’t have any issues in Cranbrook. The speed was slower in Southend.
