World broadband lead claimed by Europe
According to a recent report the world lead when it comes to broadband subscribers has been taken by Europe, and this also includes mobile broadband usage.
Both home and mobile broadband services have become extremely popular with users from all around the world over recent years. However, according to a recent report the take up of both home broadband services and mobile broadband services are more popular in some areas of the world than others, and at present Europe seems to be on top when it comes to penetration of fixed and mobile broadband services.
The report shows that subscriber levels in Europe are higher than any other continent in the world, and also the take up of mobile broadband services in Europe is also the highest in the world. This reflects how Europeans have become increasingly reliant on broadband technology and suggests that they are prepared to quickly accept and embrace new technology when it comes to broadband services.
Europe has been described as the ‘World leader in broadband internet’ according to the report. This was according to the Digital Competitiveness Report: Main achievements of the i2010 strategy 2005-2009. The report discussed the success of a strategy that had been aimed at unlocking “the benefits of the information society for European growth and jobs.”
The report said: “Home broadband adoption stood at 63 percent of adult Americans as of April 2009, up from 55 percent in May, 2008. The latest findings of the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project mark a departure from the stagnation in home high-speed adoption rates that had prevailed from December, 2007 through December, 2008.”
