West Midlands town has faster broadband speeds

A recent broadband speed study has shown that the town of Dudley in the West Midlands has faster broadband speeds than the second largest city in the country, which is Birmingham.

Next to London, Birmingham in the West Midlands is the second largest city in the country, and whilst you would expect a city of this magnitude to have impressive broadband speeds and facilities recent research has shown that the area of the West Midlands that has the fastest broadband speeds in the county is actually the town of Dudley, which is a town with a rich industrial history.

A broadband industry group recently carried out broadband speed tests in a range of towns and cities across the UK, with almost two hundred thousand speeds tests being carried out in total. The average home broadband speed in Dudley was found to be higher than the speeds found in major cities such as Birmingham and Wolverhampton.

The average speed that was found in the town of Dudley was around 2Mbps higher than the speeds found in areas such as Coventry and Stoke according to the results. The town also enjoyed faster broadband speeds that the country’s capital city of London, coming third overall in the cities and towns that were tested as part of the survey.

An official from the group that performed the survey said: “Nowadays everyone expects their broadband to be superfast so they can watch TV online and download the latest music and movies. The data from our speed test shows that the people of Dudley are getting significantly better speeds than those in nearby cities. So it wouldn’t be surprising if the people of Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Coventry and Stoke started complaining to their ISPs!”
