Verdict on the broadband tax given by Confused.com
The popular internet site Confused.com has given its opinion on the broadband tax that is to be charge to every home in the UK, which was announced recently in the pre-budget from the government.
The introduction of the broadband tax is a small price to pay for the improvement and updating of broadband networks throughout the UK according to head of utilities at the financial advise website, Gareth Kloet.
Greater funding will be required to be able to expand the current capabilities of the internet by making it more accessible to users and increasing its speed, which will be a a major priority.
He also advised that broadband internet access playing a key role in the lives of many users the regular improvement and updating of the networks and services they use is very important, although at the moment broadband connection speeds are much higher in mainland Europe than they are in the UK.
Kloet went on to add “Increasing landline costs by 50p a month should be more than manageable especially for those that shop around or opt to bundle their home phone, broadband and digital TV.”
The payment of this newly imposed broadband tax should be easier for most users as the overall cost of accessing broadband has fallen sharply over the last few years making broadband access in general far more affordable concluded Mr Kloet.
Many users are now looking to purchasing mobile broadband dongles as Christmas approaches although experts are advising that before taking out a mobile broadband service it is important to check the coverage in the areas that it will be used.
Many groups are opposed to the idea of implementing a broadband tax and believe that the money it will raise each year will be insufficient to make any worthwhile changes to broadband services in the more rural and underserved areas of the country.
