US Online Video Viewership Hits New High

How many online videos do you watch a day? Most of you might not even have a clue about it. Normally, people switch from one video to another as it is so convenient to do that.

ComScore has a surprise for you. In the month of October, an average US web surfer has watched 21.1 hours of online video content. Can you believe that? This means that a record 42.6 billion videos were watched during a single month!

This is a significant growth from the month of June. It was only 16.8 hours of online video watching during that time. The firm also reported that Google’s YouTube, Facebook, Vevo and other online video sites have displayed an all-time high performance in October.

Not a surprise that Google’s YouTube tops the list with 161 million unique viewers. Trailing behind is Facebook with a 59.8 million unique viewers. Vevo, a music video site, reached 57 million unique viewers in the same period.

Microsoft claimed the 4th position with their sites together generating 49.1 million unique viewers. Viacom, which has MTV.com, ComedyCentral.com and other sites, claimed another 48.2 million viewers.

Comcast’s NBC Universal too pulled out an impressive performance. It managed 39.3 million unique viewers. Hulu and Turner Digital generated 29.2 million and 28 million unique viewers.

The study also claimed that the duration of the average online content video was 5.5 minutes.
