UK businesses will be boosted by Next generation broadband
Recent claims have been made that businesses within the UK will receive immediate benefits from the introduction of a new high-speed broadband network and will be more able to compete effectively in the global marketplace.
An industry expert has recently claimed that plans by the government to make high broadband access available throughout the country will make sure that companies in Britain will be able to compete in the current global economy.
The product director of a popular broadband comparison site, Michael Phillips said that although the initial benefit will not be too noticeable for consumers in the UK, the effects of the deployment of a next-generation broadband network will most likely have an immediately impact on business users.
Businesses in the UK would be able to compete with rival companies for major contracts more effectively with the ability to transfer more data at higher speeds, he claimed.
Mr Phillips explained “Having a high-speed internet network which takes larger transfers of data means we can work on larger projects and larger projects tend to have larger revenues attached to them.”
In the years to come he also predicted that once broadband services have been upgraded to the next generation of technology that its use will become an essential part of the economy in the UK.
He also added “Britain is an information and service economy, and internet connectivity is now at the heart of that.”
It was been speculated by industry figures that the budget that came out on Wednesday 22nd April may contain financial support to allow the broadband industry to provide the necessary advancement to the country’s broadband services. This speculation came from comments that had been made by business secretary Lord Mandelson and the Prime Minister Gordon Brown during the Digital Britain summit that was held recently.
