Three year high for online sales
The increased uptake of broadband services has resulted in more and more people enjoying the convenience and ease of online shopping, and this has been reflected in recent sales figures that have shown online sales have reached a three year high.
These days many households have broadband services, which they use for a variety of purposes from entertainment and information to research and shopping. The increased take up of broadband over recent years has had a knock on effect on the online retail market, and recent figures have shown how online shopping figures have increased.
According to recent reports internet sales have been rising, as more and more people enjoy the convenience, ease, and value for money that comes from being able to make purchases online. In fact, the figures have shown that online sales have grown at their fastest pace since before the recession, as more and more people use the internet to find bargains.
The figures were released by IMRG, and showed that in the month of July online sales grew by eighteen percent compared to a year earlier, and this was the biggest jump since 2007. The company said that UK shoppers spent five billion pounds online in July, which was more than in any other month this year.
Chris Webster, head of retail consulting and technology at Capgemini, said: “Although online retail sales survived the recession more convincingly than High Street sales, the last two years or so have no doubt been shaky at times. It is really encouraging to see growth levels returning to those seen pre-2007 and before consumer confidence was knocked by the financial crisis and the recession.”
