With broadband take up on the increase around three quarters of small businesses now think that websites form an important part of their business success according to a recent report.

Over recent years the take up of broadband services has increased amongst households in the UK, and many people now use the Internet to make purchases of a wide range of products and services. With this in mind a greater number of small businesses have realised the importance of having an online presence, and a recent survey has revealed that the majority of small businesses now feel that having a website is an important part of their business success.

It has been reported that two thirds of small businesses in the UK now have an internet presence, and a survey revealed that around seventy three percent of small businesses believe that having a website is important to the success of their future. The survey was carried out as part of BT’s new business pulse.

Firms in a number of different areas were found to be benefiting as a result of faster broadband connections, with sixty eight percent of firms in areas such as finance, technology, telecoms, and IT stating that they were able to benefit as a result of faster broadband connections. Online spending was also said to have rocketed this year, with more and more people making purchases of all kinds via the Internet.

One industry official said that many people were now going online to try and find the best deals, which showed just how firms with an online presence could benefit. He said: “The recession has had a huge impact on sales, but the Benchmark figures demonstrate that more shoppers than ever are going online in search of great deals.”
