The first 100Mbps broadband territory in UK to be broadband
An announcement has been made by H2O networks that Bournemouth has been chosen to become a fibrecity with broadband connection speeds of up to 100Mbps and currently has thousands of residents and businesses signed up for the new super-fast service.
The testing of the first 100Mbps fibre optic broadband service ever in the UK has been announced by and will take place in Bournemouth. At some point in March of this year H2O Networks will be beginning the tests in 30 Bournemouth homes.
The highly ambitious ‘fibrecity’ project in Bournemouth is set to be the biggest project in Europe and H2O’s copyrighted “Fibre Optical Cable Underground Sewer System” will be the method of delivering this new high-speed broadband service, with a huge £30 million invested in the project already.
The have been as many as 5600 residents and businesses registering for this new service since Bournemouth was announced as being the chosen city for this ambitious new project back in September last year.
Both free broadband connection and a free service term for a limited period will be given to the households that will be connected to this free broadband service, and this free service will only be available while the engineers for H2O remain in Bournemouth.
Once this free service is over it is, however, believed that more than a massive £400 could be charged in the future for this 100Mbps broadband connection.
Although the price of this service is one of main factors it is expected that as well as offering incredible download speeds this next generation broadband network will also allow for an increased uptake of a variety of web-based services like IPTV.
With a completion date for the network set for 2010 it has been mentioned that another area that may be used for similar fast broadband services will be Dundee.

Please let Solihull be next! With the average amount of diposable income being so high, you can bet many will pay “top dollar” for a decent broadband connection.
