The content the audiences want can now be delivered by high-speed broadband

Views from the UK Film Council, Endemol UK and Twentieth Century Fox, regarding the future of content in the new multi-media convergence age were heard recently by delegates at the UK Media Festival.

The challenges of keeping audiences happy across the multi-media platforms that are available by ensuring that the range of content is sufficiently broad and diverse.

The Media festival speakers included Vice President of international marketing – Europe, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, David Stevens, Managing Director – Digital, Endemol UK, Peter Cowley, Chief Executive Officer of the UK Film Council, John Woodward.
How the gap between what audiences want to see and what can be bought to them could be narrowed by wide spread, high-speed broadband was one  of the things highlighted by the CEO of the UK Film Council, John Woodward.

Woodward said “Imagine, for a moment, a world in which it becomes possible to view, on-demand, thousands of hours of material from national and local archives, to watch plays from anywhere in the UK, to call up moving image content about art exhibitions of every size and shape across the UK – all with supporting editorial content and context. And all giving audiences the chance to comment and supply their own context via wikis and blogs.”

Strategies and models for creative content funding and the future of digital business were just a few of the topics that were covered during the three day event. More than 300 delegates from the world of converging media including, television, advertising, gaming, online and film were hosted at the Manchester-based event.

The Media Festival’s director, Peter Bazalgette and digital content deirector, Emap Inform were the openers for the conference. Debates and master classes were among more than 38 different sessions that attendees were allowed to take part in.
