Teens enjoy anxiety relief from social networking sites
Over the past couple of years social networking sites have rocketed in popularity, and recent reports suggest that they could help to ease the anxieties of many teens.
Recent surveys and reports have suggested that social networking sites are amongst the most popular websites that are accessed by consumers that are using mobile broadband services, as well as those that are using fixed line broadband. One industry expert has now suggested that these social networking sites have become a valuable outlet for teenagers and young people who need help with issues relating to growing up. The expert from the UK charity YoungMinds said that these websites can help to ease anxiety for younger people.
She said that research had shown that fears and concerns over the future were rife in some younger people, and with this in mind these social networking sites provided a useful vehicle that enabled teens to express these concerns and network with others in a similar situation, which in turn helped to alleviate anxieties. She said: “Social networking sites are very popular with children and young people. They allow young people to express their identity and opinions through video, photos, music and chat.”
Some networks offer free access to a number of social networking sites through mobile broadband, making these sites more accessible for many teens. The sites have really taken off over the past couple of years, with millions of people connecting all around the world, as well as being able to keep in touch with friends and family locally.
