Switching broadband providers is still proving a problem
According to a recent report switching broadband providers is still proving a huge problem for some due to substandard customer service
There have been a number of problems that have hit broadband customers in the past when they have tried to switch provider in order to get a better deal. However, the communications regulator Ofcom addressed some of these issues in order to try and rectify these issues. However, according to a recent report there are still problems facing those looking to switch their broadband provider, with poor customer services leaving many consumers stranded.
A number of complaints have been made recently from consumers that have suffered broadband switching problems due to problems with the customer service teams with some of the major broadband providers. Many consumers have been left without any Internet connection at all after trying to switch due to problems caused by staff members. Many customers have also found that they are still being billed for a broadband service that they have cancelled by their old provider.
Consumers have reported that despite contacting their old broadband provider to query these payments and to get a refund on any payments that have already been taken for the disconnected service, they have often gone ignored and have ended up being chased by debt collectors for the money that the provider claims is owed.
One consumer said that he cancelled his broadband service with Bulldog broadband some time ago, but kept receiving bills. He called the provider, and staff members acknowledged that his service had actually been cancelled some time earlier. However, he continued to receive the bills, and was eventually chased by a debt collection agency.
Another customer reported similar problems with Bulldog, which has now passed into the hands of Tiscali. She was told by customer services agents on three occasions that the bill had been cancelled, but she then found herself being chased by debt collectors for the payment.
