Surge in online clothing sales

According to recent figures there has been a surge in the level of online clothes sales as people flock to the internet to get bargain prices on their clothing.

With so many people now having broadband access the level of online shopping has increased enormously over recent years, with more and more people making all sorts of purchases online, from gifts and one off purchases to furniture, entertainment, beauty products, groceries, and clothing.

It seems that clothing sales in particular are enjoying huge success amongst online shoppers, with recently released figures showing that the sale of clothes has soared over the past few years. According to officials faster broadband speeds and value for money online has resulted in more and more people abandoning the High Street and buying their clothes online instead.

One official stated: “At a time when recent figures highlight wider retail sales have seen their worst monthly decline in 15 years, the increase in online retail revenue is particularly impressive and shows that at a time when belt tightening was expected across the board, online continues to buck the trend.”

A spokesperson from a retail consultancy added: “Many now prefer to buy clothes online and try them on in the privacy of their own home than in a changing room. They get around the problem by ordering multiple sizes and sending back the ones they don’t want. Of course, this can be costly for the retailers that pick up the cost of this.”
