Suffolk road has slowest UK broadband
It has been revealed that the road that has the slowest broadband in the UK is located in Suffolk and the broadband speeds there are thirty seven times slower than the UK’s national average.

Most broadband users want to enjoy impressive speeds so that they can make the most of their broadband service and do the things that they want online, such as streaming content, surfing without any problems, playing online games and more.
However, this is something that may be a long way off for one street in the Suffolk area, as it is has received the dubious honour of being the road with the slowest broadband in the UK. The road in question is Mount Pleasant in Halesworth, which is said to have an average download speed of 0.127Mbps, which is around thirty seven times slower than the national average.
This was revealed after speed testing was carried out between March and August this year. One industry official said: “Mount Pleasant was really below the average – it would take about two days to download a movie. There are so many factors that affect your broadband speed – the proximity to your local broadband exchange or the copper wires that lead to your house. A lot of the investment that broadband providers are spending is on urban areas, so it’s taking them a while to reach the rural areas that really need the broadband speeds to be improved.”
However, BT has accused the figures of being out of date, stating: “Several of the allegedly ‘slow’ streets now have access to superfast fibre broadband. Mount Pleasant doesn’t have access to fibre broadband at present but speeds in the street are well in excess of those reported…as the road is close to the exchange.”
Do you live in this street and experience super slow broadband?
