It has been claimed in a recent report that the stance of the various political parties on the rollout of super-fast broadband will become a major topic in the up and coming general election.
With the general election coming up the various political parties that are hoping to either stay on for another term or get into office are trying to sway voters with various promises, policies, and plans. Usually the major topics that people look at before voting include employment, education, health, and other high priority areas, voting based on what they think of the views and plans of the political parties in relation to these issues.
However, this year there will be another hot topic that could affect the decision of voters in the general election. The plans and views of the various political parties when it comes to the rollout of super-fast broadband could well have a significant impact on the way that some people decide to vote, and the two main parties – the Labour Party and the Tory Party – have already unveiled their plans with regards to this issue.
Broadband industry experts have said that whilst broadband has never been an issue that has formed part of the strategies used by political parties to try and gain votes this year would be very different. Access to broadband has been in the headlines a great deal over the past year, as have various broadband related issues such as tackling online piracy, rolling out higher speed broadband, and other issues.
One broadband industry expert said that the two main parties were now putting a lot of focus on their broadband related plans. He added: “Amongst what you might call the fibrenauts – campaigners for fast fibre-based broadband to every corner of Britain – there’s delight that this argument has broken out now.”
