South Ayrshire gets 100Mbps fibre optic broadband thanks to i3 group

An announcement has been made South Ayrshire will be the first roll-out by the i3 Group (H2O Networks) of its new Fibrezone, which will allow organisations and businesses to connect to an ISP at a speed of as much as 100Mbps using a dark fibre optic broadband cable ring that will be deployed around a town, city, business sector or campus.

In order for customers to gain the benefit of its “unlimited” super fast connection i3 only needs to lay down short fibre optic links in order to reach the fibre ring. The building of bespoke fibre optic networks will be a huge benefit for customers of H2O as the model will significantly lower its building costs.

The commercial director at H2O Networks, Roy Shelton stated: “The Fibrezone in South Ayrshire is the first of 10 that will be built across the UK over the next 12 months. We are developing a national infrastructure that provides low cost unlimited bandwidth to businesses and organisations. i3 Group has developed a range of different solutions for the UK and its international partners to benefit from super fast connectivity delivered by fibre optic networks. Work has started on two [BOURNEMOUTH and DUNDEE] of the first 10 town and city wide Fibrecities which will provide connectivity speeds of up to 100Mbps and will be the UK’s largest fibre to the home installations servicing over one million homes. Fibrezone will also be a catalyst for future Fibrecities across the UK.”

The waste water network, otherwise know as underground sewage network is utilised by this new unique system from the i3 Group, which allows the expense of digging up road, which limits the disruption to both the environment and local traffic flow in the area, to be avoided.
