Many people find it difficult to remember the days before the online shopping phenomenon burst onto the scenes. For those that do remember having to trawl the various High Street shops, queue up for hours, and go out in all weathers to buy things the ability to do all sorts of shopping from the comfort and privacy of home is something that has proven popular and has been welcomed.

Analysis firm The Foundation carried out the research. More than two thousand people were polled about innovations of the last decade that had resulted in a profound impact on their everyday lives. People these days use online shopping to make all sorts of purchases from grocery shopping to gifts and products from around the world.

One consumer said: “I can’t even imagine life without the ability shop online now. I get pretty much everything online, from clothes and gifts at Christmas to groceries, holidays, even my car. There is so much choice online and you get a far better chance of getting a bargain.”
