It has been reported recently that there has been an increase in the number of broadband users in the UK that are sharing content online over the past year.

Before high speed broadband came along users were often limited with regards to what they could do online. However, with broadband speeds having improved over recent years and many improvement and advancements being made to broadband services by Internet Service Providers an increasing number of people have started to use the Internet to share content online, ranging from photos and videos to blogs and more.

A report was recently released by the Office for National Statistics and the data in the report showed that over the past year around forty percent of broadband users have used the Internet to share content online such as photos and videos. This reflects an increase of twenty percent compared to the previous year, showing just how popular online content sharing has become amongst users in the UK.

The most popular online activity according to the report was emailing, with ninety percent of users using their connections to send and receive email. It was also found that around seventy three percent of consumers accessed the internet everyday or almost everyday, with the highest daily use being amongst consumers aged between sixteen and twenty four.

The figures also showed that in the past three months around forty two percent of users have watched television or listened to the radio online, which reflects an increase from thirty four percent in 2008. With the increase in broadband speeds coupled with increased affordability of broadband services more and more people are finding it easier to use the internet to share content with friends and loved ones.
