Pipex customers being moved to Tiscali network

Although they have not been officially told about the move hundreds of thousands of Pipex customers are being moved across to the Tiscali network

According to a recent report hundreds of thousands of Pipex customers that were bought by Tiscali are being moved over to the Tiscali LLU network, but have not officially been told about the move. The five hundred and seventy thousand Pipex customers were bought by Tiscali last year and are now being integrated to the Tiscali network, which is causing some problems.

The report suggests that the Pipex customers that are now being integrated to the Tiscali network have been suffering a range of problems whilst the integration takes place, and this includes broadband outages and interruptions to their service. However, the report goes on to claim that the customers have not been told that the migration is taking place. It is thought that the integration will save Tiscali money.
One official with links to Tiscali stated: “The logic is that we’ll save more money placing customers on the Tiscali backhaul per month than we will lose from customers migrating away. So far we’ve had our SMTP Servers replaced with Tiscali’s Iron Ports and now we’ve been forced to replace our DNS Servers with Tiscali’s.”
The acquisition of customers from Pipex was made last year for over two hundred million pounds. It is thought that customers have not been told about the migration because Tiscali is known for its bandwidth monitoring and strict regulations over data allowances, and the company does not want to risk losing customers who find out about the migration. Officials have also suggested that there could be a full block in the evenings on peer on peer traffic.

    well,well. No answers to Telephone calls and no return call option (5)did seem strange. Doesn’t someone know a lawyer who specialises in class-action suits, or do we all have to wait until our contacts are over? Mine ends in August. I cannot believe this can happen when consumers are supposed to be laughing. It makes me angry.

    I have been a Pipex customer for over 6 years and their speed and reliabilty was simply brilliant. My 8Mb broadband stayed up for weeks on end and would actually run at near to 8Mb/sec download speed. I was so happy with Pipex. Now Tiscali have swallowed them up and performance is bloody awful. At first I started getting only 2Mb/sec and rang to complain. Tech Support people are barely audible and palm you off with ‘things to try’. They couldn’t tell me what level of service I had been put on. I’m still paying the same money as I was with Pipex but now only getting 360Kb/sec downloads. Looks like I must get shot of them. FAST!

    I cant believe we were not told about the takeover- no wonder i have had several problems which i have never experienced in the past with Pipex. It stinks- does anyone have good recommendations for another provider?

    I moved from Tiscal to Pipex due to poor service over 4 yeard ago and exaclty the same service appears to have followed me:
    Poor connection speeds
    Dips in service
    line disconnections for weeks on end
    Poor technical support

    Any suggestions on a good ISP to flee to?

    I’ve been quite happy with Pipex for years. However, a few weeks ago their system went down and lost all of a my bank dd details. I then received a letter and phone call advising that if I didn’t pay up my account would be cancelled! I rang and although I eventually managed to settle my account, a few days later they cancelled it anyway.

    I’ve been trying to sort this out for over a week, made over 30 calls and have still got nowhere! I’ve been told that my account is active, but my router says ‘no!’ In fact I’ve managed to move provider while I have a supposed ‘live’ account with Pipex – something I thought couldn’t happen!!!!

    Loads of promises and loads of contradictions – frankly an absolutely awful service. I know I should now forget it can’t let it go – it’s not about the money any more, I will see this though as far a possible.

    My only advice to any existing Pipex customers is… although it may be working now, pray your account doesn’t fall under the spotlight of the customer care, credit control, technical or cancellations departments – you WILL be in trouble!

    very poor service, contract till november, am i able to cancel now, as tiscali are not the firm i signed up with, what do you think is my legal position

    I moved from tiscali to pipex 4 years ago and was delighted with their service in all areas, big difference from the lack of service I got from tiscali.
    I started having problems with pipex about 8 months ago and was begining to receive the same sort of service I thought I had escaped from. Was no surprise when I learned tiscali had taken over. Service has continued to go downwards every since.
    I am now looking for a new ISP

    I have lost my connection this weekend for “Essential Maintenance”, I’ve been with Pipex for several years, they were a good ISP, I am going to challenge them about my connection being migrated to Tiscali for the downtime, I WILL LEAVE ASAP as my contract has just expired

    I have been with Pipex for 5-6 years and recently experienced an entire month without a connection after “maintenance” – ie changeover to Tiscali LLU. Their Manila-based support was simply appalling and I eventually had to contact Tiscali’s CEO before I got a connection – at 160kb…. Somehow, I’m not likely to stay with them much longer.

    I have been with Pipex for many years and the always found the connection reliable and fast, the customer service friendly and efficient.
    Since Tiscali took over I have been getting sub 1Mb/s speeds on an 8Mb/s package most of the time. The support is no longer UK-based and is hopeless.
    I only found out about migration because a support guy let it slip when I was giving him a hard time.
    Firms like Tiscali should not be allowed to buy up good names like Pipex and ruin them.
    I must find a good ISP so that I can switch asap.

    Joined Pipex back in November after moving to a new property. Having used Pipex in the past, and found then very fast and reliable, i decided to take out a 12 month contract with them.
    All was good for a start, until recently i have been experiencing internet slowdown and trouble conecting to the network.
    I signed up to Pipex, not Tiscali, and will be changing my provider as soon as my contract is up.

    Since Pipex has been bought by Tiscali we have noted a deterioration in my broadband service. We have experienced loss of service and frequent periods of instability, sometimes for quite lengthy periods. Speeds are constantly disappointing.

    As customers we should have been informed of the changes especially as they were likely to affect service

    I for one am changing service provider asap and not to Tiscali.

    Tiscali paid £ 350 gbp for Pipex customers, –SO- if they want you to move from pipex to tiscali slow broardband, then tiscali should pay the customers £ 250 to migrate.( and give pipex only £ 100 gbp )

    i would not migrate as they cut my phone off when they bought screaming.net, 7 years ago, and said — sorry, the phone line you have with us wil be disconnected in 7 days time, as we dont do phone lines any more.

    When you buy a company, you don’t buy the customers. You just hope the customers will continue to use you. YOU should all refuse to migrate to tiscali, stop your standing orders / direct debits, and find a mote moral company.

    I doubt if the truth above will ever be published ???
