Over eighty percent of businesses in Europe have broadband
Recently released figures have suggested that over eighty percent of businesses across Europe have broadband connections, which is helping them to do more business via the Internet.
The statistical office of the European Union, Eurostat, has recently carried out a survey of broadband penetration amongst businesses across Europe, and the results of the survey have shown that more than eighty percent of businesses in Europe have a broadband internet connection. The figures indicate that European businesses are embracing the benefits that come with broadband technology.
The results of the study found that a massive ninety three percent of businesses in Europe that had ten members of staff or more had access to the Internet and an impressive eight two percent of companies had broadband internet access. The study went on to show that many businesses had been able to benefit from selling and buying goods online, enabling them to save more money and make more money.
The figures also indicated that around twelve percent of turnover for these businesses was being generated via the Internet, showing what a crucial tool broadband internet has become for businesses. In the UK the number of businesses that had a broadband internet connection was eighty five percent, and the level of business generated online was fifteen percent.
Broadband access has revolutionised the way that many businesses operate, and with more and more people tending to make purchases online due to the convenience, choice, and value for money available the level of business that is generated online could increase. It is hoped that the universal broadband plans that the government has for the UK will help to bring adequate broadband to businesses in rural areas to provide them with the same benefits as businesses in areas where access to broadband internet is already good.
